Pretty in pink

Here is the beginning of the newest quilt. This one is made up of lots of triangles. Solid white on one side & several different prints on the other. This one is also going to feature a tissue linen for the back. It is lightweight & super soft. This is not the scratchy linen. This is smooth & someday I might make a quilt for my own bed with this fabric. :) It will have a soft batting in the middle & it will be tied with embroidery floss instead of quilted. This will be soft & lofty. Perfect for Fall. This quilt has a lot of out of production Heather Ross fabrics that are very soft as well. Hope you like it & I will post my progress! It will be listed in my Etsy shop as soon as I am finished. Thanks for stopping by !

Seashells

Inspired by our recent trip to Sanibel Island Florida and all the shells:
I went through my fabric and was in the mood to use some of my saved Neptune fabric line. The fabric features prints in ocean hues & has seashells, seaweed, anchors, waves, fish, scales and shipwrecks and more. I made a plus quilt with a flannel center & backed in a natural linen. This is the perfect weight for fall. Its incredibly soft & flexible. Will be very comfortable to use. I decided to hand quilt this one. I enjoy hand quilting & outlined each square (these pictures are of the quilt in progress, it is not finished yet).
In the picture of the linen quilt back you can see the hand quilting better than on the front. :) This is a new favorite. I will be listing it soon in my etsy shop. I have a feeling I will be making more like this. It was so much fun & so soft and nice to work with. Thanks for stopping by!

De-stash time!!! I was going through my fabric today & looked at my coveted pile of Heather Ross fabric. My favorite color has always been blue. I love the Heather Ross Mendocino line in aqua. The giant octopi, underwater sisters, seahorses and swim class are my favorites in aqua. But as for the blush pink, gold and brown color lines, they just are not colors I would use in my house. I have worked with them all on several different quilts and decided to hold on to only the aqua fabrics. So I decided to go ahead and sell the rest that were just sitting around in my stash. So check out my original out of production Heather Ross fabrics I am selling. Hmmm... maybe I shouldn't have listed the giant octopi, lol! It so pretty!

Whats new...

I have been working on several new projects. I have a new twin size patchwork quilt finished and will be listing it this Saturday (I need my husbands help photographing this large blanket :)). It was fun to work on and I used a lot of my favorite fabrics from my stash. I have also been working on crochet. I find it very relaxing. I have been working on the double crochet stitch making little swatches and then unraveling them and doing it again. I am a bit of a perfectionist, and always want to improve. Will I ever get past swatches and actually make something? Lol, who knows...
Spring is almost here. Hopefully this week will be the last cold spell we will have. Well off to enjoy the day before it gets cool again!

wee wander...

I have been waiting to get my hands on the newest fabric line called wee wander by Sarah Jane for Michael Miller. It is soooo cute and has lots of nature in it. Deer, birds, feathers, fireflies and more...
I think the color palette is so soothing and pleasant. This is a close up of my favorite two prints. The deer and bunny are just too cute.
I think that a quilt made with this fabric line would make a wonderful present for little ones. Be wonderful for Easter. I think I will make two rag quilts with each color. I am also thinking about a super lofty baby lap duvet in the future. Check my shop to see what I make from them. Have a wonderful day and stay warm. :)

Landscaping and...

I did a little landscaping yesterday. I have been wanting to improve the looks to our back door for some time now. So on a whim yesterday while I was in town I decided to get some of the supplies I needed. I should have measured because I am going to need some more pavers. The two perennials are saxifraga and a groudcover~ sedum. The empty space has a peony that is just starting to come up. One of my other major hobbies besides sewing is gardening. My landscaping project was alot of fun even though we had some huge storms come through later that day. The whole time I was outside the wind was blowing so hard and the clouds kept getting darker. With that storm it also brought in cooler weather. I won't be doing much outside today. This morning the sun was shining in on my unfinished log cabin square. Maybe I will finish it and maybe start a new one too! :) Have a nice day! Past Traditions

A little break...

Have taken a short break from sewing. Spring is one of my favorite times of the year. I love walking around our property and watching all the perennials come back to life and all the spring blooms blooming on trees. Plus I love starting a garden. I planted some garlic in the fall and now onions, potatoes and snap peas. I also started a row of some cool season kale, radish, european mixed greens, beets and even artichoke!!! Artichoke and kale is my new plants to try this year. Every year I pick something new to try in the garden. Plus I have a new baby goat and my chickens are laying lots of eggs! So I have been busy enjoying spring.
I am going to try and finish up some of my projects that I have started and are sitting around waiting to be finished. Now I am working on a log cabin quilt a long. Just need a few more squares. Will keep you updated on the progress. I will show my latest two squares featuring some of my favorite Heather Ross prints for centers. Have a wonderful spring everyone!!!
