Landscaping and...

I did a little landscaping yesterday. I have been wanting to improve the looks to our back door for some time now. So on a whim yesterday while I was in town I decided to get some of the supplies I needed. I should have measured because I am going to need some more pavers. The two perennials are saxifraga and a groudcover~ sedum. The empty space has a peony that is just starting to come up. One of my other major hobbies besides sewing is gardening. My landscaping project was alot of fun even though we had some huge storms come through later that day. The whole time I was outside the wind was blowing so hard and the clouds kept getting darker. With that storm it also brought in cooler weather. I won't be doing much outside today. This morning the sun was shining in on my unfinished log cabin square. Maybe I will finish it and maybe start a new one too! :) Have a nice day! Past Traditions

A little break...

Have taken a short break from sewing. Spring is one of my favorite times of the year. I love walking around our property and watching all the perennials come back to life and all the spring blooms blooming on trees. Plus I love starting a garden. I planted some garlic in the fall and now onions, potatoes and snap peas. I also started a row of some cool season kale, radish, european mixed greens, beets and even artichoke!!! Artichoke and kale is my new plants to try this year. Every year I pick something new to try in the garden. Plus I have a new baby goat and my chickens are laying lots of eggs! So I have been busy enjoying spring.
I am going to try and finish up some of my projects that I have started and are sitting around waiting to be finished. Now I am working on a log cabin quilt a long. Just need a few more squares. Will keep you updated on the progress. I will show my latest two squares featuring some of my favorite Heather Ross prints for centers. Have a wonderful spring everyone!!!

Hoot Hoot Finish

Finished the Hoot! Hoot! Heirloom Rag Quilt Throw. Turned out nice. I like the nice & calm color palette. This quilt is filled with a nice sea glass blue/green for its main color with cream, turquoise and dark chocolate for the main colors. Quilt is completely backed with the sea glass owl in forest print. Whats next? Probably the Meadowsweet 2 Heirloom Rag Quilt Throw. Thanks for stopping by! Past Traditions

Clipping Rag Quilts....

Well we had a busy couple of days so my hoot hoot quilt progress was held up a bit. We went to see Dave Ramsey Live! this Saturday and then my husband and father went to see a NBA basketball game yesterday Grizzlies vs. Lakers.
Anyways I am a math nerd and thought I would figure how many cuts I make every time I make an Heirloom Quilt Throw when I clip for the ragging around each square.

3,072! ! !

Just a little interesting fact for all of my great customers. All hand cut too!!! Takes some time but the results are definately worth it. They have some machines out there that are made to do the clipping on rag quilts. But I like doing it by hand. Well better get working on the Hoot! Hoot! quilt. Hopefully I will get it finished soon! - No date set this time though! LOL!!! pasttraditions

Pot Holders

As if I needed another project to start! I was really exited about trying out a tutorial from Oh Fransson! I cut out enough blocks to do 3 potholders, I finished piecing the tops of all 3 and then I got burnt out on them... :( I should have just made one. I don't know why I do that sometimes. I hate having unfinished projects stacked around. This one turned out alright, just a little more tweaking and the next one should turn out better ~ hopefully. :) They are cute and fun once you get started you should try one out! I did make a few variations to the potholders. Next post will be about Hoot! Hoot! progress or maybe another potholder. Have a great day! Past Traditions

Hoot Hoot

Snowy cold weather again...perfect though for making quilts. I am really getting cabin fever though! Can not wait for spring! Thank goodness for seed catalogs!!!

Anyways ~ I started my new Hoot! Hoot! quilt. Its going together nicely. I love this line made up of cool blues, greys, and cream. With just a hint of chocolate brown, red, orange and yellow. Has darling little owls, birds and trees. Plus some awesome dots, plaids and other non-busy patterns. Plus I have thread that matches the main blue color perfectly! I bought it online for another project, but it did not match it. Looks great with this line though!

Will keep you posted on the new Hoot! Hoot! Heirloom Quilt Throw. Have a nice day!

More Detail on Heirloom Quilts.

Just a little more information on my new heirloom quilts. Pictures show:
~ The rich chocolate brown back showing on the Meadowsweet Throw
~ Close up of the double stitching on seams
~ decorative zigzag stitching around the edge of quilt
~ picture of paper sent with every rag quilt with name of quilt, description, date sold, heirloom quilt number and my signature

~ A little reminder that I also except payments on quilts. For instance, the Meadowsweet Heirloom Throw is $398.00, I will divide the price by 3 = $132.66. So for 3 months I will set up a custom listing for $132.66. On the last payment I will also add the shipping cost, and when the final payment is made I will ship the quilt! Just send me a convo through etsy and I will set up a custom listing for you.~

Meadowsweet and Castle Peeps.

Sneak peeks at my two latest quilts that will be listed Sunday or Monday. I reeeallly like the Meadowsweet quilt! This one will be hard to put in the shop to sell. I love the rich chocolate brown used for the entire back that shows through to the front, giving it a nice solid brown throughout the quilt. Up next is Its a Hoot by MoMo. This fabric is super cute and I know it will be a new favorite. Check back for updated progress and sneak peeks before I list them in my shop. Have a great day! Past Traditions

I hope you enjoy this new product line as much as I do. Plus the security of always knowing when its mailed and where its location is until it reaches your house.

Each quilt is carefully planned out and has its own pattern. We recently got about 6 to 8 inches of snow. Perfect weather for staying inside and working on a quilt! That is exactly what I did with the latest Heirloom Quilt I am working on featuring the Meadowsweet line. Look for this quilt around the 15th of January. I had so much fun working on this quilt. Went together easy and beautifully. I am really happy with the results. Check my etsy shop often. My next projects will be featuring Meadowsweet 2 and Its a Hoot by MoMo. I adore both of these lines!!! Past Traditions
